The Oct. 23 volunteer effort provided handmade blankets for children served by the Omaha-based child advocacy organization.
OMAHA, NE, UNITED STATES, November 3, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Retire SMART employees came together on Oct. 23, 2026, to create fleece-tied blankets in support of Project Harmony, an Omaha-based organization working to end the cycle of child abuse and neglect.
During the volunteer activity, team members made cozy fleece blankets intended to provide comfort and warmth to children served by Project Harmony. The project offered employees, their clients, and the community an opportunity to contribute their time to an organization that supports children and families throughout the Omaha area.
Project Harmony has worked to address child abuse and neglect since 1996. The organization uses a collaborative model centered on response, treatment, and prevention, bringing together resources and professionals to help children and families affected by abuse.
In addition to responding to reports of child abuse, Project Harmony provides services designed to support children’s healing and help prevent future abuse. Its work includes youth-focused mental health services, early intervention programs, specialized services for children and families, and training for professionals and community members who work with children.
The Oct. 23 blanket-making project focused on creating a tangible source of comfort for children who may be experiencing difficult circumstances. By assembling the fleece-tied blankets, Retire SMART employees, clients, and community members contributed handmade items that can help provide warmth and care to children in need.
The volunteer effort is part of Retire SMART’s involvement with organizations serving the local community. Through the project, employees, clients, and community members learned more about Project Harmony and contributed directly to its work supporting children and families.
Project Harmony serves children across the Omaha metropolitan area, including Douglas and Sarpy counties, as well as additional communities in Nebraska and western Iowa.
