YMX Logistics and Outrider Establish Strategic Partnership to Accelerate Autonomous Yard Operations

Five-year commercial agreement simplifies enterprise adoption and scaling of Outrider self-driving yard trucks for YMX customers

HENDERSON, Nev., and HENDERSON, Colo., Oct. 1, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — YMX Logistics, a leading national provider of integrated yard logistics for enterprise shippers, and Outrider, the leader in autonomous yard vehicles for logistics hubs, today announced a strategic partnership to expand the deployment of self-driving, zero-emission yard trucks at YMX customer sites. Under the five-year commercial agreement, YMX will operate and support the Outrider System in large enterprise customers’ yards to deliver safer, more productive supply chain operations.

YMX Logistics and Outrider partner to create turnkey path to autonomous yard operations for enterprise shippers

The agreement represents Outrider’s most comprehensive channel relationship to date and establishes YMX as a full-service option for enterprise shippers to adopt and scale autonomous yard operations. The non-exclusive partnership combines Outrider’s self-driving technology with YMX’s comprehensive service offerings, giving customers a turnkey path to automating trailer spotting with less deployment complexity and lower capital requirements.

“Outrider’s self-driving yard trucks are a strategic addition to our Autonomous Yard Operating System, expanding how we use technology to execute yard operations and create value for our customers,” said Matt Yearling, CEO of YMX Logistics. “We selected Outrider because of its industry-leading approach to system safety, use of advanced AI capabilities across diverse yard environments, and operational maturity.”

YMX’s Autonomous Yard Operating System (YMX OS) combines yard management technology, fleet operations, performance management, and data insights to improve throughput, service levels, and consistency across complex distribution networks. Outrider extends YMX OS with self-driving yard trucks that automate trailer and container movements. Initial deployments will target customers in food and beverage, retail, consumer packaged goods, and automotive starting this year.

Outrider has developed a purpose-built physical AI system for logistics yards that automates key aspects of the trailer spotting workflow. Its self-driving yard trucks navigate mixed-traffic yards, locate and move trailers, hitch and unhitch, precisely position trailers at dock doors and parking spots, and use a robotic system to connect and disconnect trailer brake lines. The technology also provides real-time trailer inventory tracking with no additional infrastructure, monitors EV charge status, and integrates with existing yard, warehouse, and transportation management systems.

This agreement extends the leadership of both companies in the electrification space. YMX offers capacity-based pricing rather than hourly rates, so customers can maximize the use of EV yard technology in their distribution and manufacturing hubs. Outrider designed its autonomous system from the outset for electric yard truck platforms, giving customers a simple path to achieve the benefits of both automation and electrification. This combined offering is increasingly valuable as diesel costs rise, with U.S. on-highway diesel averaging $6.38 per gallon the week of Sept. 28, 2026.

Under the agreement, YMX will lead customer implementations, finance and operate the self-driving fleets, and provide on-site support. Outrider will support deployments and provide ongoing remote monitoring and technical support. The companies will jointly support site planning, deployment execution, and operating processes to continuously improve throughput, safety, and sustainability while simplifying the operational and change management required to advance yard automation.

“Large shippers are focused on running complex operations and often lack the time and resources to evaluate, deploy, and support new technologies themselves. At the same time, supply chain executives and site personnel are eager for safer, more productive yards,” said Andrew Smith, CEO of Outrider. “YMX has built an exceptional business around delivering turnkey, integrated technology and operating services to enterprise customers. The YMX and Outrider partnership gives enterprise shippers a simple path to deploy and scale physical AI across their yard operations.”

System safety was a key factor in YMX’s selection of Outrider. Outrider developed the industry’s first safety system purpose-built for scalable driverless operations in mixed-traffic logistics yards, where self-driving yard trucks maneuver semi-trailers alongside personnel and manually driven vehicles. TÜV SÜD, a globally recognized independent testing and certification organization, determined that Outrider’s functional safety approach aligns with its Autonomous Vehicle Conformity Framework requirements.
